Our Counselling Referral Process

The First Light After The Storm

Admitting you need support takes courage. Our process is compassionate and individual-focused. Our counsellors work hard to provide an empathic and respectful, safe space for clients to talk through their worries and emotions. We are currently accepting referrals for individuals, aged 4+.

Our Counselling Referral Process

Submit a referral (Complete our secure online form - If you need help, our team can guide you through it. Your referral will be added to our waiting list and we will try and contact you as soon as possible),

Needs and Risk Assessment

Once your referral has been logged and reviewed, our dedicated mental health team will give you a call to ask you some questions over the phone. This risk assessment is to help identify the right support level

Referral Acceptance

Upon review of your risk assessment, NCNW will confirm suitability and availability. Once a counsellor becomes available we will then contact you to agree upon a suitable appointment time and date. Your appointment details will then be emailed across to you.

Your First Session

Whether your first session be in person or carried out remotely, your counsellor will run you through some paperwork and use your first session to determine expectations for your future sessions.

Session Length and Duration

All counselling sessions last for 50 minutes, and depending on the counselling option you have chosen, will last for either 11, 30 or unlimited sessions. If you feel like you still need support once your sessions are drawing to a close, please feel free to chat with your counsellor about options to continue. We are more than happy to help
