Understanding the NCNW Accommodation Process: A Supportive Approach

NCNW Accommodation Referral Process
At NCNW, we offer a clear and supportive referral process to help individuals access our accommodation services.
How to Make a Referral
Referrals can be made through:
- Local Housing Authorities or Councils
- Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB)
- External agencies (e.g. Change Grow Live – CGL)
- Self-referral, either in person or by phone
What Happens Next
Once we receive your referral, your name will be added to our waiting list.
We will then attempt to contact you up to three times. If we’re unable to reach you and you don’t get back to us, your referral will be closed.
Risk Assessment
If contact is made, we’ll arrange an appointment for you to come to our office for a risk assessment. This helps us determine whether our service is the right fit for your needs.
A police check will also be carried out as part of this process.
What Happens After the Risk Assessment
Based on your risk level, here’s what happens next:
- Low Risk: You’ll stay on our waiting list until a suitable property becomes available.
- Medium Risk: Your application will be reviewed by a panel to decide if we can support your needs.
- High Risk: Unfortunately, we may not be able to meet your needs. In this case, we’ll signpost you to other organisations that can help.
When a Property Becomes Available
We’ll invite you back to our office to:
- Review and sign the licence agreement
- Go through house rules
- Discuss key deposits and payment arrangements
We’ll also provide fuel and food vouchers to help you settle in.
Final Step: Move-In
Once all paperwork is complete, you’ll be ready to move into your accommodation.
Disclaimer: Please note that we are unable to accommodate you on the day/night of your referral, we are required to follow a set process, which is essential to maintain. We appreciate you’re understanding and cooperation.
